All About me

The aroma of Fall

Many people around the world, and particularly in the United States are drawn to the magic and mystery that is Ireland. This mist covered island is the source of many stories and much shared history, but did you know that it’s also the source of some really great food in he 21st century? Ireland has seen a revolution in recent years and the emergence of her culinary traditions are now also coming to life on the world stage. So, a food blog dedicated to the best of Irish cuisine right here in the USA seems fitting, and this is why I’m here!

Sharing my story

Coming from Co. Armagh, in the heart of rural Northern Ireland, I learned the techniques of the Scots-Irish culinary tradition from my family who had generations of experience in the Irish hospitality & restaurant business before deciding on a move to the United States with my husband Gary in the 1990’s. After spending a short time in the Boston area, we settled in Roswell Georgia, just outside Atlanta, where I started my own gourmet food business called ‘Shamrock and Peach’. Specializing in Scots-Irish cuisine, I have worked hard at creating my own unique food fusion by blending the techniques of my homeland with the new found flavors of the South to great acclaim.

I also teach Irish cooking at many venues such as Whole Foods and Cooks Warehouse, and have made numerous television and media appearances and am busy throughout the year cooking and catering in Atlanta and beyond. I also love to cook at the Cancer Wellness Center in Atlanta.

A few years ago I started to bring groups of American visitors over to Ireland and before long Shamrock and Peach Tours was born.  Each year I lead and guide several tours to Ireland visiting both the Southern and Northern regions.

I hope you enjoy the food and culture on this blog..please let me know what you think!

  3. Hi Judith! I hope this note finds you well and I hope you remember me from your demo over at The Cooking School. We are still talking about you there, and again, we thank you do much for coming. I just came from a visit at JTC Kitchen to see if we could get Ford to come in and do a class. Unfortunately, he wasn’t in but I did get to talk with Brian, his Sous Chef. I just wanted you to know that I mentioned your name, so hopefully you could put in a good word for us. We’d LOVE to have him as much as we’d LOVE to have you back next year. Thank you again!
    Hope to see you again,
    Laura

    • Hello Laura, Thank you so much for having me at Publix John’s Creek cooking school and it was just a fabulous experience working with you as always. You totally spoiled me with all the hard prep work already done and allowed me the opportunity to engage with my guests. I will mention to Brian about how great an experience cooking with Publix is and highly recommend it to any chef. My hope is to return again in 2014! Wishing you and everyone at John’s Creek Publix the very best, Judith xx

  4. Judith, Any chance you’ll make it back to Tallahassee any time soon? I missed your visit to Aprons Cooking School, but I love your cookbook and would love to see you demo your cooking.

    • Hello Dawn, Thank you so much for picking up a copy of the cook book. I have no plans to return to Tallahassee this year but would love to see you next year if I am invited back again to Publix and get to use the fantastic Kerry gold products in March 2014. Hope to get to meet you then, Judith xxx
